Beginning in the 20th century, “blue collar” had an intrinsic connection to blues music. Doing the jobs that keep the lights on, physical labor, be it field or factory—a harder
scrabble life than jobs deemed “white collar.” On the cover of his soon-to-be-released new record, BLUE COLLAR (Alligator
Records, streeting July 10), New Yorker Chris O’Leary looks straight into the camera, his crossed muscular arms in rolled up denim sleeves. “Look for the Union Label” might
just be tattooed underneath.
We can all check when O’Leary and his stellar band arrive here in Sacramento in support of the new record:
